So much of parenting right from birth in our culture is about teaching independence. From the pressure to teach our babies independent sleep to learning how to be away from their parents for 8 hour days at school and daycare. What we don’t realize is that independence cannot be taught, it must first be built up and grow through dependence ! If we want our children to grow into confident, adaptable and independent humans, we must first form a strong and secure Attachment relationship with them. In this workshop we will discuss what Attachment means to our children, why they need it and how to achieve it from birth! During class, we will discuss:
The biological need to attach right from birth
How connection cultivates independence
The importance of following baby's cues and your instincts as a parent
The mismatch between western child-rearing and human babies
